Coral Bay Nickel Corporation

Dedicated to the Environment.  Protecting the future.

Coral Bay Nickel Corporation operates a Hydrometallurgical Processing Plant (HPP) in Rio Tuba, Bataraza, Palawan to produce nickel and cobalt sulfide from existing stockpiles of low grade nickel ores from the Rio Tuba nickel mine of Rio Tuba Nickel Mining Corporation. In its initial phase, HPP 1, the plant was designed to produce 10,000 tons of nickel and 750 tons of cobalt per year.

The main product is mixed sulfide (MS) of nickel and cobalt analyzing 57.2% Ni and 4.2% Co. The mixed sulfide will be in powder form and will be contained in flexible plastic bags for shipment to foreign buyers.

Because of favorable developments in the world market for Nickel last 2007,  CBNC embarked on an expansion program that expanded the capacity of  the plant, HPP Line 2 Project (HPP2).  This expansion increased the processing capacity of the plant by another 10,000 tons of nickel and 750 tons of cobalt per year.  The HPP2 began commercial operations in June 2009.

Through improvements in operational efficiency,  the total capacity of the plant has been improved to 24,000 tons of nickel and 1500 tons of cobalt per year.
